Diabetes Maintenance Panel

The Diabetes Maintenance Panel includes tests to evaluate the status of the disease and to look for early warning signs of complications.

Maintaining your health with diabetes can often feel like walking a tightrope. The dietary restrictions and medications needed to control blood glucose levels can feel overwhelming to manage so frequent testing to monitor the effectiveness of your treatment plan are key to your maintenance plan. Glucose levels that are too high can cause serious damage to eyes, kidneys and blood flow leading to potential loss of limbs. Proper intake of glucose and use of insulin can protect you from long term irreversible health issues.

Fasting Glucose and Hemoglobin A1c tests will let you know how stable your blood sugar levels are so that you know if you need to make further adjustments to your diet. The Urinalysis provides valuable information on how well your kidneys are functioning. The presence of the protein microalbumin can alert you and your doctor to early stage kidney disease so that you have time to change your treatment plan and preserve as much kidney function as possible.

Why Do I Need It?

If you are diabetic you need to monitor your current glucose levels frequently as well as your long term levels. Because diabetes puts you at a higher risk for kidney disease and cardiovascular disease these tests provide important information about how diabetes is impacting your overall health. The Diabetes Maintenance Panel offers convenient monitoring of your diabetes so you can adjust your treatment and lifestyle to ward off serious side effects.
